The 900AD - Loading Screen

This is my level loading screen... Just for evidence.

Unreal Playtest

After recieving some very useful information on how to fix the issue I had.

I've final managed to get the level working correctly (which is did work prior to this but my assets did not show up)

This was due to having two packages so I had to copy (rename) my meshes and materials to link them to the package which my level created when I first started. I didn't even know that! I've very pleased with myself since I didn't intend to make my level "playable" as a Death Match game... I have also got Team Death Match and Duel incorporated into the level so I'm over the moon! I spent today finshing off my Model Book (which took ALL DAY) and I've only just saved the file for it. Tomorrow will be a day of sorting out my files and burning them onto a DVD to hand in. I can actually see the light at the end now and today has been such a blessed day!

Oh, the guy who helped me was a Senior Member on the Epic Forums called NickG. I has got a mention within my model book for his help. Without that piece of information I wouldn;t have figured it out in time or at all for that matter. Thanks NickG again.

Here's some screen grabs of my WORKING level!

This is Malakai running around in my level within the Editor

This is Visse

Added Vehicles to this level too...

Yes... All these are editor screen grabs which worked from before but now...

Production Schedule...

Quick Screen Grab of my Production Schedule...

This really helped me in preparation for this assignment. I've put two of these up to show the different of planning and what actually gets done.

This was my original production Gantt Chart. I had to identify what needed to be done and when.

This is my actual Production Gantt Chart for this assignment... as you can see, a lot has changed due to the needs and challenges I faced. This is still ongoing due to the lasts sections I need to complete. Maya Render Shots and Model Book which are both underway and should be / will be completed by Tuesday, leaving me with any extra tasks or things I've missed to get done.

Final Stretch... Unreal Ed

It been a grueling few days to try and get all things of an high importance done...

My Unreal Map is complete now, I have to stop! You can spend hours and hours and then some on a level to get it "perfect" but no level is 100% perfect. I've finished my 900AD map now and I'm very please. I have also created a Death Match - (DM) version of it and I've added weapons, ammo pickups, health and Vehicles. The map is big enough to have them after all... I've edited this map to suit the feel of the DM game mode as well as a Team Death Match (TDM) mode.

Right, the only problem I'm having is that once I've set it up and loaded it into the Main Unreal Tournament 3 game, my assets do not appear. I've looked for many issues regarding this but I'm still yet to find an answer. I've also posted up a message on the Epic Forums for this issue so I'm waiting for an reply. Anyhow, if I don't get to sort it in time it's no big deal. It works fine within the Editor Mode which I was told that the assessors and tutors will be using to view my work.

The main 900AD village is different from the Death Match version so I've ended up with two complete levels which I'm very happy with. I've also had some help from my other mentor John Dwyer. He helped me big time for the setup of lighting and the general feel of the level. Without that, my level wouldn't be as good as it is.

Here's a quick Screen Grab of it's current state:

I've worked and worked on this level for days and I'm now pleased with result.

The sky textures are not that good in UnrealEd but sometimes you have to make things work for you. I can now say that I'll be continuing this project after my course has finished and I'll publish this level as a beta for feedback.

I'll add more Screen Grabs shortly and I'll also check to see if I have a reply to my message about the issue I'm having.

Maya Progress... Wood-Men...

I had an idea today...

While in work, I thought about making a few wooden men as what the Vikings would use for practice fighting. These are very simple structures but I also thought about showcasing the weapons and helmets on them as well... I've just knocked these up as quickly as I could so that I don't waste too much time since I dont really have long to go for completion.

Here's a few shots of them.

WoodMan -1
Just added one of the Battle Axes on this one as if it's hanging from it's arm.

WoodMan-1
Quick Render

WoodMan-2

WoodMan-2
At this point, I started to like the idea of these...

WoodMan-3
I decided to add another axe to the side of this WoodMan as if it was struck and left there.

WoodMan-3
Bump Mapping shows quite well on the shield.

WoodMan-4

WoodMan-4
I like the detail in the wood. I use created a Normal Map for the texture and placed it in the Bump Mapping section in Maya.

WoodMan-5

WoodMan-5 Duel Weilding.

WoonMan-6

WoodMan-6
This one I added a sword to demostrate that it was hit and left in the arm.

Some of these have been added to my environment in Maya so this section will be ready tomorrow for FULL Rendering - I have a good Mentor!

Hopefully, this will conclude all of the Maya section! I'll post some full true renders when they are done.

Now to add these into my package for Unreal Ed...

I've just thought of something... Sandbags for these to illustrate that they are secure when they are placed within the ground. I'll knock these up tomorrow! I'm resting now!

Unreal Progress... Still at it

I'm trying...

To make it more smaller so that I can have more detail once its layout has been sorted... I've had some help in it so I just need to sort it out moreso. I've also reworked the houses for the final time to make them look more aged and used.

Unreal Current Layout...

Here, I'm trying to close off the area using rocks and trees when I put them in.
This is how its gonna look

Here I've rotated the houses so it doesn't look too uniformed and unrealistic.
