This site is a work in progress and will be updated regular. I'm currently studying at a BA (Hons)Level in Entertainment in Media so I'll be posting up some of my work for "constructive crit" Thanks.
Hi Kevin, I tried to find an email address that I could write to you. Thanks for finding my blog (Digital by Design). As you can see, I am a multimedia artist, Maya being just one of my applications. As far as environments in Maya goes, I really depend on the UV editor to map all of my textures. From what I can see on your blog, I think that you are doing a fine job! The only thing that can aid you in placing your textures the way you want them, is to set up the images in Photoshop better and even enhance the texture from there first. Do you create a desaturated image for your bump mapping in PS? That helps a lot also to refine this image as it will affect the surface texture. No way of getting around it, there is work involved to be sure! Good Luck! Paula
ReplyDeleteHi Paula... Thanks a lot for replying... I really appreicate that. As for my textures, I unwrap the model and then layout the UVs then take a snapshot of them. I bring this into PS and add my textures from there. This also depends on what I'm texturing as well... For the Viking Homes I unwraped the models then imported a texture 1024x1024 I think then placed the UVs over them in the UV Editor. As for what you mentioned about the desaturate texture image, I haven't done that. I really don't know how to add Normal Maps and Desaturted Maps in Maya... (I've never been taught)I use the Nvidia Plugin Normal Mapper for PS but when I create the Normal Map, I dont know where to put them in Maya. I tried to put them in the Bump Mapping section for the Lambert in the Hypershade but when rendered, it looks too "rough"... Would it be possible to give me some instructions on how to desaturate a texture and then to apply it correctly within Maya. I understand if you don't have the time to do this but I would really be grateful. Thanks again for your response and encouragement. Kevin. Oh, my email is
